Antique Chinese/Japanese Brass Planter Embossed Dragon Phoenix Turtle Symbols

DESCRIPTION:
Very interesting antique heavy brass Asian planter or ferner with 6 embossed dragon, phoenix bird, and turtle designs on the side. There are 2 of each design around the outside. I am not sure if this is Chinese or Japanese.
The designs do not look like attached medallions, nor are they pressed through from the inside. So this may be a cast bronze piece, I am just not sure. The walls of the bowl are about 7/32" thick as measured at the top. The bowl measures about 5 1/2" high and about 8 1/2" wide at the widest point. There are no markings on the bowl other than some black brush writing on the inside that is partly worn.
The planter has its original patina - I have not cleaned or polished it. It is darker near the bottom on the inside, where water sat at one time, I would guess. There is a shallow dent on one side and hairline crack lines above and below the dent (see last picture). Also, the bottom of the planter is a separate, thinner piece of brass that, although solidly attached, is separated from the body in a couple places, so the planter no longer holds water.
