  • Condition: A large Chinese Famille Rose hand thrown wash basin hand painted in multi colored enamels with a regal peacock and decorated with four outer panels in flowers and the 8 symbols of Buddhism. Parasol, Twin Fish, Conch Shell, Sacred Lotus, Banner of Victory, always filled Vase, Dharma Wheel and Eternal Knot. The inner yellow gold band is painted with four lotus and leaves and four small panels with other symbolic items that I am not familiar with. This large bowl is about 14 1/2" in diameter and 3 7/8" tall. In good condition with no cracks or hairlines, just overall wear from over 100 years of use. One very small chip on the lower outside rim that is hard to find and shown on last picture. Throwing finger marks are charming and bowl is made sturdily with thick even walls and a rolled rim for easy grasping. It seems to be from the late Qing Dynasty which lasted from 1644 to 1912.
