Description
This early 1900s Masonic penny (or token) is from the Oriental Chapter No. 21 R. A. M. in Chicago, Illinois, and it is 'marked' on both sides. One side has the chapter identification surrounding a very large Delta, with the brother's initials engraved in script font - appearing to beJSL
. The other side has the words
ONE PENNY
, along with images of a chisel, maul, and large ornate keystone. The brother's 'mark' is in the center of the keystone, and this very carefully engraved 'mark' is an image of a dog head - strongly resembling Scooby Doo!! This penny is composed of copper and has a diameter of
approximately 35 mm (1-3/8").
This item is in very good condition, with even wear, signs of handling, toning, and limited soiling, and it remains bright. Both engraved 'marks' were done very well and remain clear (more so than in photos!).
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: The actual item has more detail, is brighter, and is more attractive than evident in the photos.
