  • Condition: Complete and original 12 pounds, 21.5" long x 14' wide, x 9" high. Bevo Malt/Beer was a non-alcoholic malt made by Anheuser-Busch starting in 1916 when the box was made. During U.S. Prohibition (1920-1933) it was widely used. Complete box with hinged top. The top reads, "All Growns must bear this," meaning all grown-ups must bear this non-alcoholic drink because of prohibition. The face of the Grown Fox no longer appears. There is a Union-Made Stamp on the side and please see photos for more complete description.

    This is a 1916 solid wood crate for a non alcohol beer that was sold during prohibition called "Bevo". Bevo was a non-alcoholic Malt Beverage brewed in the United States by the Anheuser Busch company beginning in the early 20th century (1916). Bevo enjoyed its greatest success during the time of prohibition when beer, wine and distilled liquors and, were made illegal for thirteen years. This was Anheuser Busch's creation in order to survive prohibition.
